001 dining table, rectangular, 160 cm, pine

Vaarnii’s rectangular dining table, designed by Fredrik Paulsen, is a bold piece of furniture whose reduced form turns the spotlight to its material, Finnish pinewood. According to the designer, the material’s grain is best described as “psychedelic” and should therefore be used in large areas. What’s more, each table is adorned with a unique grain pattern due to the innate variability of the natural material.

The structure of the wooden dining table is simple but distinctive: it doesn’t hide the table’s construction but, on the contrary, allows you to marvel at it as well as the skills of the craftspeople behind it. The table is crafted in Finland using Finnish pinewood. Pine is softwood, meaning that scratches and dents are bound to form on the surface. Vaarnii encourages you to embrace these imperfections and see them as characterful signs of aging that only add to the allure of the piece.

Vaarnii is a Finnish design brand that launched in 2021. In their design, the brand draws on traditional furniture, which, in the past, used to be made using local, abundant materials. Inspired by this notion, Vaarnii's furniture is also based on practicality and locally available materials – the brand's first collection is crafted in Finland, mainly from Finnish pine wood.
