GUBI's Doric coffee table gets its name and shape from the Doric order of ancient Greek architecture. Symmetry and simplicity are characteristic of Doric architecture which is also evident in this elegant coffee table designed by GamFratesi. The design duo has borrowed beautiful details from ancient columns, such as the inward curves at the bottom of the legs, giving the sturdy table softness without taking away from its strength.

The sculptural Doric table is made of limestone, which has been used as a building material since ancient times. As limestone is a natural material, the colours and textures on the table are always different, making each Doric coffee table a unique piece with no other exactly the same. Gubi Olsen and his wife Lisbeth Olsen founded GUBI in 1967. The company has been based since the beginning on product design and development. Over the years, the two designers have created a large collection of upholstered furniture and a furniture fabric, called Holmens Klæde.

Since 1967, GUBI’s core philosophy has been to create timeless designs, with aesthetics, innovation, functionality and quality as guiding principles. GUBI’s many new designs are developed partly in cooperation with designers who have previously left their mark on GUBI products and partly in association with a number of new designers who, in turn, will add new stories to the GUBI saga.
