The Prisma furniture series was a significant part of the furnishings for Hotel Hesperia, located in the center of Helsinki and completed in 1972. There its design language truly came to life. According to legend, even Elizabeth Taylor fell in love with these pieces during her visit to Hotel Hesperia, and she wished to have them for her own home.

Matti Martela established the office furniture manufacturer Tehokaluste Oy, now known as Martela, together with his business partners in 1945. Martela's story initially started with individual office furniture such as work desks and office chairs, but gradually the company's operations started to focus also on workstations, design services and creating conditions that support wellbeing at work.
