Scheletro armchair, birch

The Scheletro armchair, designed by Kari Asikainen in 1987, is part of the Scheletro furniture series. This armchair is easily recognizable by its unique design, reminiscent of a skeleton, which is also reflected in the name of the series. The Scheletro armchair makes a striking addition as an office chair, a seat in the hallway, or in a lounge area.

The Scheletro series was manufactured in Raisio at the P. O. Korhonen factory, renowned for its expertise in wood bending and shaping. The series incorporates elements from the Kari furniture collection, also designed by Asikainen, but stands out with its tall and dramatic profile. The seat of the Scheletro chairs is composed of multiple curved and shaped wooden slats, creating a structure that is both lightweight and robust. These slats enable a versatile and intriguing design language that is visually appealing and ergonomically comfortable.

The metal legs and visible bolts of the chairs add a modern contrast and stability, further highlighting the chair's futuristic appearance. Although the design of the Scheletro chairs is playful and sculptural, they are crafted to provide excellent support to the body. The curved forms of the backrest and seat offer superb support and comfort, even for extended periods of sitting.
